Thank you for your interest in Gaelic Fusion Dance Company. The Company was founded almost six years ago by a small group of Scottish Highland Dancers. The vision of the company has always been to creatively build on Scottish music, dance styles, costumes and traditions fusing it with other art forms. Most of the GFDC dancers are adults with full-time jobs during the day. To give our choreography and performances the time, energy, and practice they deserve we have had to limit the shows and events we are able accept to about four per year.

Here are the guidelines we use to accept performances:

  1. There is a performance fee charged (like the old idiom says, “You have to pay the piper.”)
  2. Proximity of performance location to Madison, WI
  3. Performances must be scheduled for evenings or weekend days, due to dancers’ full-time work schedules.
  4. Performances must be scheduled at least three months in advance.
  5. A wooden stage is necessary (we prefer 20’x30’ for most of our dances, but at least 16’x16’ in size)
  6. Length of show affects the fee
  7. Professional sound system with CD player capabilities and microphone are required.
  8. Dancers typically have several costume changes and it is helpful to have a nearby dressing room.

GFDC has many dancers with decades of experience. The unexpected events and venues we have worked with in the past have led us to develop these guidelines. We hope these guidelines help to inform and avoid any misunderstandings in hiring GFDC.

With appreciation,

Gaelic Fusion Dance Company
