Come to see our next performance Saturday March 3, 2012 in Madison, WI at the Overture Center
Gaelic Fusion was founded in 2004 by co-directors, Maggie Thompson and Silvie Marlette and is based in Madison, Wisconsin. The vision of Gaelic Fusion Dance Company is to integrate Scottish Highland dancing with different forms of dance as well as to expand our horizons in terms of music and costumes.  The group has worked with a professional jazz dancer and teacher from New York, a Native American dancer, and a group of Irish dancers just to name a few. Both Maggie and Silvie are always working on new choreography. For our summer shows, we developed a combination of Irish and Scottish jigs danced to the music of the Red Hot Chili Pipers. With the artistic help of Maral Shegonee, we created a new dance fusing Scottish Highland and Native American dance to honor the four directions. Scottish dancing is highly energetic and athletic. It becomes even more exciting and explosive when it is combined with new music, movements, and costumes.

Gaelic Fusion Dance Company has performed at the "Celebrate Madison Event", the Madison's Saint Andrew's Society "Burns Night",  at the University of Wisconsin - Madison's Dance Programs "World Dance Celebration",  at the "International Festival" held at the Overture Center of the Arts, Madison's " Art Fair on the Square", and in other cultural festivals. The dance company has given workshops in Scottish Highland dancing as well as traveled statewide to perform.

Silvie Marlette is currently completing her Master's degree in Architecture at McGill University in Montreal, QC Canada. She has taken leave from the Company beginning August 2011 through August 2012. The dance company is currently working on technique and still accepting new students under the direction of Maggie Thompson.
